INKED IMAGINATION
One month later, Pine Ridge Resort glowed with life. Fairy lights twinkled along the porch rails and wrapped around the tall pine trees near the entrance. Local vendors had set up elegant stalls in the main lounge, offering handmade crafts, warm spiced drinks, and fresh baked goods. Soft acoustic music played from a small stage near the fireplace. Guests filled every corner, laughing and taking in the transformed space. The soft opening had been a huge success, and tonightโs grand re-launch event proved that Elaraโs vision had worked beautifully.
Elara stood near the fireplace in a deep emerald dress that hugged her figure, watching the crowd with a full heart. She had poured everything into this night, and it showed. People kept coming up to her with compliments and questions about future bookings. The resort felt alive again.
Rowan found her during a quiet moment. He looked incredibly handsome in a dark button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, revealing strong forearms. He took her hand and led her outside to the wide porch where their story had begun.
โYou saved this place,โ he said, his voice warm as he looked down at her.
โWe saved it together,โ she replied, squeezing his hand. โI could not have done any of this without you.โ
Rowan pulled her closer. โThere is something I have been wanting to tell you. My father built this resort with my mother, but their marriage destroyed almost everything. The fights, the affairs, the public scandals. I grew up watching love tear a legacy apart. That is why I kept everyone at a distance. I was terrified of repeating his mistakes. But you changed that. You made me believe a real partnership could make this place stronger instead of breaking it.โ
Elara reached up and touched his cheek. โAnd you helped me believe in myself again after Derek tried to tear me down.โ
Before Rowan could respond, his phone buzzed. He frowned at the message. โRichard Caldwell just texted. Apparently Derek has been calling some of their circles in the city, spreading new lies about you and the resort. Trying to undermine tonight.โ
Elaraโs eyes flashed with anger. โHe is still trying to control me.โ
In The City…
Miles away in his sleek city apartment, Derek paced back and forth, whiskey glass in hand. He had spent the last few weeks calling every connection he still had in the event industry. Old clients, former colleagues, even a few journalists. He planted seeds of doubt about Elaraโs reliability, hinting at missing funds and unprofessional behavior. He wanted her to fail publicly. He needed to see her broken so she would have no choice but to come crawling back to him.
Seeing her wrapped around that mountain man had bruised his ego worse than anything else. Elara was supposed to be down and out. She was supposed to need him. Instead she looked happier and more successful than ever. It made him furious.
โShe thinks she can just move on?โ he muttered, pouring another drink. โNot a chance. I made her once, and I can destroy her again.โ
He refreshed his social media feed, hoping to see signs that his rumors were working. Instead he saw Elaraโs new video that had just gone live.
Back at the Resort
Elara had not been idle. While preparing for the re-launch, she had recorded a calm, professional clarification video. In it she addressed the past rumors directly with receipts, timestamps, and honest explanations. She spoke with quiet strength about resilience, growth, and building something meaningful. She posted it that afternoon, tagging key industry people and the resortโs new official account.
Within hours the video gained traction. Supportive comments poured in. Several past clients who had been misled reached out to apologize. Elara had also spoken to a lawyer friend earlier in the week. Papers were being prepared to sue Derek for defamation and malicious damage to her professional reputation. She refused to stay silent anymore.
Rowan read the comments on her video with pride. โYou are incredible,โ he said, pulling her into his arms. โNot many people would fight back this strongly.โ
โI am done letting him have power over me,โ she replied. โThis is my life now. Our life.โ
Rowan smiled, then dropped to one knee right there on the snow-dusted porch. A small velvet box appeared in his hand. The fairy lights above them sparkled like stars.
โElara Voss, this stopped being fake a long time ago. You brought light back into this place and into my heart. I want to build a future with you here. Marry me. Be my partner in every way.โ
Tears blurred her vision as she laughed with pure joy. โYes. A thousand times yes.โ
He stood and kissed her deeply. The kiss held every promise of the nights to come. Passionate, loving, and full of heat. When they broke apart, cheers erupted from inside as guests noticed them through the windows. Rowan slipped the beautiful ring onto her finger, then lifted her off her feet and spun her around.
Later that night, after the last guest had retired and the lodge grew quiet, Rowan carried Elara up to the Aspen Suite. He kicked the door shut behind them and set her down gently.
They took their time undressing each other. His hands explored her body with reverence and hunger. He kissed every inch of skin he uncovered, drawing soft moans from her lips. Elara touched him with equal wonder, running her fingers over his chest and back, feeling the strength that now protected her.
When they came together, it was with tenderness and building fire. Their bodies moved in perfect rhythm, whispers of love mixing with gasps of pleasure. Rowan held her close as they reached their peak together, bodies trembling and hearts full.
Afterward they lay curled together under the covers. Elara rested her head on his chest, tracing lazy patterns on his skin.
โBest unexpected booking of my life,โ she whispered with a smile.
Rowan chuckled and kissed her forehead. โAnd this is only the beginning, my love.โ
Later That Night
Derek stared at his phone in disbelief. Elaraโs video had gone viral in their industry circles. Support poured in for her. His own contacts were pulling away, some even warning him to stop. Then the email from his lawyer arrived. Elara was suing him for defamation. The evidence she had gathered was strong.
He threw his glass against the wall, watching it shatter. How had she turned everything around so quickly? The mountain man, the successful event, the public comeback. It made him sick. His ego, already bruised, felt completely crushed. He had wanted her crawling. Instead she was thriving and moving on without him.
Derek poured another drink, but the victory he had imagined tasted like ash. For the first time he realized he might have lost her for good.
Back at Pine Ridge, safe in Rowanโs arms, Elara felt no pity for Derek. She had fought for herself and won. Now she had a fiancรฉ who loved her, a thriving resort, and a bright future ahead.
The fire in the suiteโs fireplace crackled softly as they drifted off to sleep, wrapped around each other. Outside, fresh snow began to fall, blanketing their mountain home in quiet beauty.
This was only the beginning of their story.
