Lin Xiao spent the next ten days in the deepest chamber of the Eternal Sun Palace, his body fighting the shadow soul corrosion. The dark veins under his skin pulsed constantly, sending waves of icy burning pain through his meridians. Every attempt to circulate his divine energy triggered sharp stabs that made his muscles seize. The System remained partially unstable, offering only limited suppression. He relied heavily on the six loyal women for dual cultivation sessions that slowly pushed back the worst of the poison.

The women took turns staying with him. Their concern filled the chamber like a heavy fog. Arguments still broke out in low voices when they thought he was sleeping.

Su Mei changed the bandages on his chest one morning, her fingers gentle but her face tight with worry. “The corrosion is not getting better fast enough. We should send scouts to find soul purifying herbs in the forbidden valleys. Staying here and waiting for another attack is dangerous.”

Murong Xue, sharpening her sword nearby, answered without looking up. “Sending people out weakens our defense. He needs us here. He will overcome this like everything else.”

Princess Yan Zi stood by the window, arms crossed. “I believe in his strength more than anyone. But the poison is spreading. One wrong move and we lose him forever.”

The others added their thoughts in quiet but tense voices. All of them hovered close to Lin Xiao, their love and fear for him clear in every action. The earlier betrayal by Fairy Luo Qing had left lasting cracks. They were united in wanting him alive and strong, yet divided on whether to push forward aggressively or focus entirely on healing. Their conversations always circled back to him.

Lin Xiao listened through half closed eyes. The pain kept him sharp. He knew the harem needed time to heal its trust, but he could not afford long delays.

While recovering, he ordered a full investigation into the Abyssal Eclipse Faction and the Void Whisperer. Captured shadow cultivators from the last battle were interrogated. Intelligence reports from Fairy Luo Qing’s old networks, now carefully verified, were reviewed. What they uncovered painted a darker picture.

The Abyssal Eclipse Faction had existed for thousands of years in the shadows of the Divine Realm. They specialized in assassination, information trading, and forbidden soul techniques. Their headquarters was hidden in the Eternal Shadow Abyss, a dangerous forbidden zone where light barely existed. The faction served no single power but sold their services to the highest bidder, often playing multiple sides in conflicts.

The Void Whisperer was far older. Ancient records spoke of it as the fragmented soul of Sovereign Veylorn, a fallen divine sovereign from ten thousand years ago. Veylorn had been a master of void and shadow laws who attempted to devour an entire divine continent to ascend further. He was defeated by a coalition of sovereigns and his soul shattered. One major fragment survived in the shadows, slowly regaining power by feeding on fear, doubt, and corrupted souls. It had allied with the Abyssal Eclipse Faction because they provided hosts and sacrifices that helped it grow stronger.

The Void Whisperer had taken special interest in Lin Xiao because his rapid rise and System-powered growth represented a threat to the natural order of slow, measured cultivation that the old sovereign once despised.

Lin Xiao absorbed all this information while lying on the recovery bed. The pain in his back and chest flared as he processed it. “They see me as an anomaly. Good. I will make them regret waking up.”

He sent small, careful scouting teams to gather more details on the Eternal Shadow Abyss. One team returned with a captured mid level faction elder who revealed that the Void Whisperer was planning a larger assault soon, using the faction’s network to gather more allies.

The new information only hardened Lin Xiao’s resolve. Despite the ongoing corrosion and his injuries, he began light training again, forcing his body to adapt to the poison. The shadow blade laws he had partially plundered from previous enemies became a double edged sword. He started integrating them into his own techniques, turning the enemy’s power against the corrosion itself.

Ten days after the valley battle, another attack came.

A smaller but extremely dangerous strike force from the Abyssal Eclipse Faction infiltrated the palace grounds at midnight. They were led by a elite assassin known as Silent Fang, who carried a fragment of the Void Whisperer’s power.

The alarm woke the palace. Lin Xiao rose from his bed despite the women’s protests. The corrosion flared violently the moment he stepped into combat, but he refused to stay back.

Silent Fang moved like living darkness. His blades appeared from nowhere, each strike aimed at Lin Xiao’s weakest points. The fight took place in the palace gardens under moonlight. Lin Xiao’s movements were still hindered by pain and poison. A blade cut across his already injured thigh, injecting more shadow energy. Another strike grazed his neck, drawing blood and sending whispers of doubt into his mind.

He fought through the agony. Divine Chaos Lightning clashed with pure shadow. The battle was close and punishing. Lin Xiao took several more cuts. Blood ran down his arms and back. His breathing grew ragged as the soul corrosion reacted to the new shadow energy.

His women joined the fight immediately. Murong Xue blocked a killing blow aimed at his heart and took a deep wound to her arm. Princess Yan Zi created a ring of phoenix flames to limit the assassin’s movement. The others supported as best they could.

After a long and brutal exchange, Lin Xiao landed the decisive strike. He used the partially mastered shadow blade laws against Silent Fang, catching the assassin off guard. He plunged his hand into the man’s chest and plundered what remained of the Void Whisperer fragment.

The assassin died, but the cost was high. Lin Xiao staggered back, new wounds bleeding freely, the soul corrosion surging painfully through his body. He nearly collapsed before his women caught him.

Back in the recovery chamber the harem tension flared again as they treated his fresh injuries.

Su Mei worked on the new cut across his thigh, her voice tight. “This is exactly what I feared. Every fight makes the corrosion worse. We have to stop pushing him into battle until he is fully healed.”

Murong Xue pressed herbs into the neck wound, her expression hard. “If we stop now the faction and that entity will only grow stronger. He needs to keep moving forward.”

Princess Yan Zi helped clean the blood from his back, worry clear in her eyes. “I want him to overcome everything, but the poison is spreading faster. One more serious fight could end him.”

The other women added their thoughts, the room filling with overlapping concerns. They all circled Lin Xiao, their love and fear focused entirely on him. The arguments showed how deeply they cared, yet the division remained. Some pushed for safety and recovery. Others believed only continued strength would protect them all.

Lin Xiao listened, enduring the pain as they worked. He finally spoke, voice low and strained. “I hear you. The corrosion will not defeat me. We investigate the Abyss next. But we do it carefully.”

The women fell into uneasy quiet, continuing their careful treatment. The harem stayed tense, but their devotion held.

The threats from the Abyssal Eclipse Faction and the Void Whisperer were far from over. Lin Xiao’s path had become a test of endurance as much as power.
